An early season dessert apple, raised in 1900 by Mrs Oakey at Hope Cottage, Rochford, Tenbury Wells. In line with other early season varities it eats beautifully straight from the tree.
The fruits have firm, fine flesh with a sub-acid flavour but it does not keep, going soft and past its best in a few weeks.
A great tree to have to enjoy fresh in September, but not a variety you would want to plant a whole orchard of.
